At Dunkirk chain home station were two buried reserves which would have been used in the event of the main transmitters being unusable following an attack from enemy aircraft. On the day of the Sub Brit visit, this buried reserve was flooded to a depth of approximately eight feet and even after being dredged for eight hours, water still remained at a depth of about eight inches.
